Onwards to 2024!

In 2023, innovation soared as technology continued to reshape daily life. Advances in AI, sustainable practices, and space exploration marked the year. Global collaboration addressed challenges, and cultural shifts celebrated diversity. Despite uncertainties, resilience and adaptability became defining traits.

In 2024, martial arts will remain the timeless pursuit offering a holistic approach to well-being. Beyond physical fitness, it fosters mental resilience, discipline, and self-confidence. In a rapidly changing world, the focus on self-defense skills and stress relief makes martial arts a relevant and empowering choice offering the resilience and adaptability that is so much in demand.

In 2023 we've run our new sword choreography course, held four seminars and two gradings, achieved our second consecutive Dojo of Excellence Award as well as working with the cast of the Highlander franchise and providing a local panto cast with some fierce sword choreography for their adaptation of The Scarlet Pimpernel.

Moving into 2024 we have a few changes to announce,

  • firstly there will be a new class booking system for RHUL students who attend Egham Orbit. The various options will roll out over the next few weeks and I'll post any relevant info into the WhatsApp group.

  • Egham Orbit and St Mark's (Farnham club) have increased their prices but, for the second successive year, we won't be raising our weekly training fees in the hope that we can recover the additional costs through the various upcoming seminars and workshops.

Level up your sword skills in 2024! Enroll in our Second Sword Choreography Course this January. Dive deeper into intricate techniques, master new styles, and choreograph breathtaking scenes. Elevate your performance and make this year epic. Tickets are now available on the website!

  • To try to build our numbers and keep the club profitable (we are looking to buy another 18 mats for St Mark's), we are offering 8 weeks of beginner training at either St Mark's or Egham Orbit. If you recommend any of your family, friends or colleagues then there could be a little reward for you once they sign up! Here's the link for both.

  • Our Royal Holloway Self Awareness and Defence course switches to Wednesday at 6:30pm before we go into normal training at 8pm in the Sports Hall. This five week course is portable and can be provided to companies or organisations such as the scouts etc, so please feel free to promote it.

  • Our Junior Martial Arts program at Frensham Heights switches to Monday at 4:30pm.

Finally, did you know we have an app? You can download it here.
